An alpine draw is a quickdraw made using a sling. The sling is shortened to 1/3 of the length using this technique. The advantage of an alpine draw over a normal quickdraw is that it extends to the entire length of the sling. The trade-off is that it isn't as convenient to clip because it's not stiff.
To extend the draw, just unclip one strand of the sling on either end.
