Climbing Harnesses

Climbing harnesses should fit snugly and be comfortable. The waist belt should be snug and slightly above your hips, and the leg loops do not need to be overly tight (1-2 fingers of space is fine).

Types of harnesses

  • General/multipurpose. Medium amount of padding and gear loops.
  • Sport. Lightweight and smaller gear loops.
  • Big wall. Feature multiple belay loops and ample padding.

Tying in to a harness

Tie in with a figure 8 knot.
