Granite is a commonly climbed type of rock. It is hard, and can be crystallized with great friction, or smooth and glacier polished. It is very secure for traditional climbing protection such as cams and nuts. It is found in climbing destinations such as Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Mammoth lakes, and Tahquitz.
