Overhand on a Bight

An overhand on a bight can be used to create a loop in a piece of rope. It can be used in anchor building (rope, cordelette or sling). It is similar to the flat overhand bend, which is used to join two ropes. The overhand on a bight can resist rolling because of an outward pull better than a figure 8 on a bight. The overhand on a bight is harder to untie after being weighted than a figure 8 on a bight.
