Quickdraw

A quickdraw consists of two carabiners joined by a short piece of sling called a dogbone. It is used to connect the rope to pieces of protection such as bolts. It provides some freedom of movement in the rope, keeping it slightly away from the rock, and reducing rope drag for the lead climber. The free end is designed to be clipped to the bolts and the rubber-stabilized end is designed to be clipped to the rope.
