A water knot is used to join two pieces of webbing, or join a piece of webbing in to a loop. It can be used in anchor building. It is an overhand follow-through. It should have at least 3 inches of tail, and be sure to check it every once in a while because it can loosen with cyclical loading.
- Tie a loose flat overhand knot in one end of the webbing.
- Cleanly follow the knot through with the other end of webbing.
- Dress the knot well by pulling an alternating strands. It should have at least 3 inches of tail.
